WEEK 7
Generosity
Live Generously
We believe living generously reflects the nature and character of God.
Message Synopsis
Live Generously challenged us to see generosity as much more than what happens when we give money.
Generosity is a lifestyle. Finances are certainly part of it, but generosity also shows up in how we use our time, resources, abilities, opportunities, and lives to benefit others.
God Himself is infinitely generous, and Jesus repeatedly demonstrated generosity toward people. As followers of Christ, generosity gives us another opportunity to look like Him.
In 2 Corinthians 9, Paul teaches that giving should not come from pressure, reluctance, or necessity. God loves a cheerful giver. Pastor Jordan encouraged us to intentionally ask God, “Where can I be generous this week? How can I help someone? How can I look like You through my generosity?”
The passage also describes God as the One who provides both seed to the sower and bread for food. Some provision is available for us to sow into the lives of others, while some is God's provision for us to receive and enjoy.
That means generosity does not require living in fear that helping someone else will leave us without enough. The same
God who gives us opportunities to be generous is also our provider.
Generosity is ultimately an issue of the heart. As God transforms us, we become people who are increasingly ready and willing to recognize needs and respond.
Living generously is one of the ways we live like Jesus.
