Holiness

The Pursuit of Holiness challenged the idea that holiness is something reserved fora select group of exceptionally spiritual people.

Scripture actually commands believers to be holy. If God instructs us to live holy, then holiness must be possible. Pastor Jordan explained that holiness simply means being set apart and distinct.

Holiness begins with surrendering every area of our lives to the lordship of Jesus. Following Jesus cannot be limited to Sunday morning. If He is Lord, His authority extends to our thoughts, relationships, bodies, choices, words, sexuality, priorities, and every other part of life.

But holiness is not about pretending to be perfect. God has given believers the Holy Spirit to help us live set apart. The pursuit begins internally. Jesus said, “Blessed are the pure in heart,” reminding us that He is interested in transforming us from the inside out, not simply teaching us how to look spiritual externally.

Romans 12 shows us what that pursuit looks like: offering ourselves to God, refusing to conform to the patterns of the world, and allowing our minds to be renewed.

We will not get everything right every day, but because of God's mercy, we can continue pursuing Him. Holiness is not about being intimidated because we are different. It is learning to embrace being distinct because we belong to Jesus.
